Navy News Data CD - 1994

With just three years before Hong Kong reverted to China, the RN moved from its base, HMS Tamar, on Hong Kong Island to Stonecutters Island. The year saw the Buccaneer bowing out - and the appearance of the FA2 'Super Harrier', as well as the first British firing of a Trident missile. 1994 also brought the news that the Royal Yacht was to be paid off, as well as the end of Type 21 service in the Royal Navy. The 50th anniversary of D Day was commemorated by a Navy News special supplement.
